Getting your marriage license

It is recommended that you apply for your Marriage License from the County Clerk at least one month prior to the event. You will need proof of identification and proof of your age. In the case of any previous marriages, you must show proof that you are no longer legally married. The Marriage License is only valid for 90 days. Currently the fee for a Marriage License in Los Angeles County is: Confidential License $85.00 and a Regular License is $90.00.

Please keep in mind that if you apply for a Confidential License it can only be certified in the County for which it was issued. For example, if you obtain a Confidential License in Los Angeles County, the ceremony must be conducted in Los Angeles County.
